Yeates on his way to Sheff Utd?
By Shaun • Jan 15th, 2010 • Category: Boro NewsMark Yeates could soon be heading through the Middlesbrough exit door on his way to Sheffield as he enters talks with Sheff Utd over a proposed move, rumoured to be worth around £500,000.
Yeates who arrived at Boro in the pre-season for an undisclosed fee from Colchester has struggled to cement a place in the Boro first team and, since Strachan arrived, has seemingly fallen completely out of favour.
I can't say I am terribly suprised to see Strachan allowing Yeates to move on, he has never really impressed me in a Boro shirt. A couple of decent moments and someone who seemed like they would give 100% every game but on the whole I thought he looked too slow, not fit enough, seriously lacking a final ball and defensively a bit of a liability.
The rumour is that we are now looking at QPR winger Wayne Routledge as a replacement for Yeates. I am not convinced he is going to be a great signing but I believe he will offer more options on the wing than Yeates and maybe having another out and out winger on the right will open up more space for Adam Johnson (assuming he is still here at the end of the transfer window). Personally I would prefer us to take a look at McAnuff at Reading, but he is probably out of our price range anyway.
