Turnbull picks up another Boro Mania Man of the Match award
By Shaun • Oct 7th, 2008 • Category: First TeamFor the third straight Premier League game Ross Turnbull has been voted Man of the Match by Boro Mania readers. Turnbull’s outstanding display in the 1-0 win over Wigan earned him the award and has gone some way to convincing Boro fans he is the long term successor to Mark Schwarzer.
Turnbull never put a foot wrong against Wigan Athletic and made some some very good saves from Heskey and Koumas when Boro were hanging on. It is vindication for Gareth Southgate that Boro fans have named Turnbull their Man of the Match in the last 3 Premier League games, when a lot of fans were questioning his decision not to sign a replacement for Schwarzer. Ross Turnbull is currently England’s second most in-form keeper.

He was excellent again, though my vote went to Wheater as I thought both he and Riggott were awesome. Well done to Turnbull though, really proving a lot of people wrong at the moment
Yeah Riggott and Huth were superb too, but i voted Turnbull because i was just so impressed with how confident he looked in making some good saves.
That shot that was going accross goal… i think it was palacios? he just dived and caught it perfectly, where schwarzer and a lot of keepers would have parried it. Excellent save, and deserved MOM once agasin.
Think it was the shot from Koumas that you mean, the one that he kept hold of. He got my vote too and he has impressed me greatly this season.
Yeah couldnt remember who took it.
