Doninger were 1-0 up at half time when Doninger swivelled and struck a sweet shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. The lead was doubled when impressive Dutch striker Danquah was brought down in the area, Doninger stepped up to convert the penalty for his second of the game.
Boro were brought back into the game when tenacious work from Patrick Otte presented an opportunity to Jonathan Franks and the young winger finished well. Franks then levelled the scoreline when he got his head to a Nathan Porritt cross to the send the ball flying past Tim Krul.
It was Newcastle who would go on to win though as an injury time corner from Kazenga Lua Lua found Doninger and the young striker completed his hattrick.
An academy game at Rockliffe Park saw the Under-18's comfortably beat Huddersfield, eventually running out 5-1 winners. Huddersfield took the lead early on but Gary Martin, Danny Hawkins, Theo Furness, Cameron Park and James Gray responded with a goal each to give Boro the victory.
