Mido’s move to Wigan; “I do not think so, no”

By Ross • Aug 28th, 2008 • Category: Boro News

Reports from Tribal Football have been circulating regarding a loan move to Wigan Athletic, and Vital Football have followed suit by publishing a story suggesting the same, even going as far as saying that the Egyptian has fallen out with Southgate! What a crock!

Selection Headache

Gareth has publicly stated that Mido's future is at the Boro and that stability as opposed to a move to yet another club is what is best for his career.

Lets look at the big picture. We're two games into the league and he's been on the bench those two games. There's 38 games in a season, and its unlikely that he's going to be sitting on the bench for the majority of the season, especially since he's in such a rich vein of form.

Southgate has stated; "He enjoys it here but he wants to play regularly. I work with him and all the players and I think the reason he joined us is because he believes in what we're trying to do and he can play a big part in that."

"I've said to him, I want him to be part of this football club. I understand that he wants to play and he will be causing me headaches in terms of selection."

About Mido's starting chances in the future; "His attitude to not starting at the moment has been first class. He's had a big impact for us from the bench and he's pushing hard to be in the starting line-up."

Mido has every chance of starting on Saturday against stoke, his recent form suggests that he deserves to be in the team at 3pm and it would be completely stupid to even suggest loaning him out to another team.

Inside Source

I've spoken to my source inside the club and Wigan have infact faxed over an official proposal to Southgate. I asked the Question; "Is Mido's move likely to be sanctioned?" and the response was; "I do not think so, no".

While it's not a definate no, the chances are more in favour of Mido staying with Boro... frankly to suggest Boro want to move him on is stupidly ridiculous after what Gareth has said in the press!

  1. yeah i can’t see it happening, i mean why would Southgate ship him out to a Premier League rival this close to deadline day? And a loan is a joke, if they want him they can cough up the cash.

  2. According to Amr Zaki’s official website, Mido has told them that he will be joining us? Before anyone says anything, Zaki’s website is very spot on with their reports. They even managed to get copies of the faxes which were sent by Wigan to Zamalek regarding the Zaki transfer.
If anyone is any good at reading arabic, i would urge them to check it out. http://www.amrzaky.com

  3. Vital Wigan here…just reporting on what I have been told by an Egyptian contact in the know, I heard about this 2 weeks ago, apparently Mido has blown his top at being told he aint in the starting 11 for your game with Stoke and Southgate has told him he can go…maybe bo!!ox…we will see one way or the other before the weekend is out

  4. Yeah, only time will tell i suppose.

  5. There’s usually no smoke without fire but this one would surprise me, especially if it is a loan deal. I cannot for the life of me understand the logic in allowing a potentially very good centre forward go on loan to a premier league rival.

If Mido does go, and i agree it’s a big IF, it is essential that we bring in another striker of a similar ilk before deadline day. An injury to Alves could land us right back where we were last season with Tuncay/Aliadiere up front and obviously an unproven Emnes.

I’d prefer to keep him, at least until January, if not the rest of the season.

  6. mido can kiss my arse the liar he spends a whole season injured and overweight he works to loose weight and now he thinks he has a devine right to be first choice over alves. Ungrateful idiot i dont care if he scored 2 in 2 he is a liability with a huge ego and could cause us problems in the dressing room.

i say we try and get daniel sturridge on loan

  7. 3 in 3 Mo. Do we actually know how much truth is in any of these rumours? Or if Mido has even said anything about not starting? I’m prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt but i agree with Mo that if he has spat his dummy for starting games on the bench then it’s a slap in the face for the fans and club who stood by him last season.
