Man of the match awards for Bolton and Newcastle
By Shaun • Dec 4th, 2008 • Category: First TeamSo following the two great away performances resulting in 4 points from Villa and Everton we had two very winnable home games against Bolton and Newcastle. Disappointingly we could manage a solitary point, that coming in the Tees-Tyne derby against a struggling Newcastle side.
The Bolton defeat was the most disappointing result as Boro capitulated in the opening 10 minutes, gifting Bolton a two goal lead. We did battle well after that and enjoyed a majority of the possesion but could not break down the Bolton backline. Tuncay Sanli was voted man of the match by BoroMania readers in what was a largely poor showing from all players.
The Tees-Tyne derby was a game that could've gone either way with Boro just shading it, quality wise. It was a game that lacked any real memorable moments of quality and one which is now being remembered more for alleged racist chants from the away fans towards Mido.
It was Frenchman Didier Digard who picked up his first man of the match award this season after putting in arguably his finest display in a Boro shirt. Stewy Downing was second in the voting with the ever improving Justin Hoyte in third place.
