Is Southgate still looking at goalkeeping options?
By Shaun • Nov 6th, 2008 • Category: Boro NewsRumours have surfaced linking Middlesbrough with Norwegian side Lyn goalkeeper Eddie Gustafsson. Gustafsson who is believed to have been invited to undergo a trial at Fulham, has also revealed Middlesbroughâs interest in his services.
The Philadelphia-born keeper has become one of the best keepers in the Norwegian top flight and would be thrilled to make the step up to Premier League football in the near future.
Obviously playing in The Premier League is my dream, my agent has told me they [Middlesbrough] are interested.
It is very flattering and moving there would be great.
I think it would be a sensible move for Gareth to be looking at bringing in another goalkeeper to provide competition and cover for Turnbull and Jones. At present if one were to get injured it would leave us very short on keepers with Jason Steele out with a broken thumb.
Number one priority has to be getting Turnbull signed up to a new, long-term deal and if he wishes to remain at the club as a back-up getting Jones resigned to a new contract.
