Digard pushing to be fit for vital clash with Fulham
By Shaun • Apr 15th, 2009 • Category: Boro NewsFrench midfielder Didier Digard is pushing to be fit ahead of Boro's vital clash with Fulham at the Riverside. Digard is well ahead of the original forecast of a mid-May comeback, with many thinking he would miss the remainder of the season. He is in full training with the first team squad and it is thought he could even be named on the bench this weekend.
A returning Didier Digard would certainly be a welcome boost for Gareth Southgate's squad as they enter the crucial last stages of the season. Matthew Bates has performed well in the centre of midfield, picking up a vital goal against Hull, but he is a very inexperienced option in the centre of midfield and with Boro entering a vital run of games the return of Digard could be key.
I personally cannot see Digard starting the game against Fulham but it would be a welcome return to see him on the bench. A vital game coming up against Fulham, nerves are jangling right now but I have faith that we can go out and get the 3 points.
