Boro Mania

Boro return to the safety of Teesside after a disappointing trip down the coast which saw them leave with little to no dignity. We’re are set to continue our run of bad form in front of a packed Riverside stadium tomorrow… or are we?

In what will become a new feature on the site we have had a chat with an Arsenal fan ahead of the impending clash at the Riverside Stadium.

Keane is the latest in a long list of great players to fall short of greatness in management. Bryan Robson features prominently with Keegan on that list. Paul Ince might be the next in line. Gianfranco Zola may not be far behind him.

Hull vs Boro… While not a derby in the local geographical sense, this is still a fixture Boro fans will feel some added grudge. I, personally, have been looking forward to this game all season.

Well 4 months since this site was launched (actually it’s closer to 5 months but I missed the “anniversary” date in November!) and BoroMania continues to go from strength to strength. This is a quick post to say thank you, recap how far we have come in a short time and look ahead to future plans.

The 201st Tyne-Tees derby kicked off to cold conditions. Both teams struggling for goals, it looked like it would either be a 1 goals winner or a 0-0 draw, and it cirtainly didnt dissapoint in that respect. Both teams struggled to get into the game, neither creating any clear cut chances. Cirtainly a game that won’t go down in the history books as a classic derby encounter.

Teesside this week will be buzzing ahead of a game which most will be expecting Boro to take advantage of the Geordies poor, poor form… Gas masks and Hasmat suits along with the usual gear containing the cliche obese Geordie fan (unless they take their shirts off *quiver*)…

Regardless of any frivolous doom and gloom mongering (we are still tenth in the table) there is one real stand-out problem for Boro. Brazilian striker Afonso Alves is not scoring goals.

Middlesbrough reverted to their old ways at the Riverside, going down 3-1 to Bolton Wanderers. After 2 good away performances picking up 4 points from a possible 6 against two good teams, Middlesbrough returned to the Riverside Stadium for what most fans would label a “winnable” game. Typical Boro, they wasted the chance to move into the top six and capitulated in the first ten minutes, gifting the 3 points to a very average Bolton team.

Boro are starting to look strong after a September full of defeats, infact since october… we’ve only lost one game, making that one defeat out of seven matches and five games unbeaten in total. Arguably an excellent return, but it’s still leaving Boro fans wondering if we could have had more points on the table.
