Bye Bye Shawky, thanks for the memor….oh wait
By Shaun • Jan 13th, 2010 • Category: Boro NewsSo the missing Egyptian midfielder Mohammed Shawky resurfaced just long enough to put to paper on a transfer to Turkish side Kayserispor. Shawky had not made a single appearance for Boro this season, under either manager, sitting on the bench for the FA Cup defeat to Man City was the closest he came. In all he made a total of 18 Boro starts in all competitions, plus four substitute appearances, scoring no goals.
I don't think you will find a single Boro fan who will be upset at seeing Shawky leave Boro, he epitomised the phrase "dead wood" and the club will be better off, financially at the very least, now that he is contracted to another club.
It is hard to say that his departure increases the need to bring in bodies, particularly in the midfield, as Shawky was very rarely even involved in a match day squad but you would like to think that Strachan was getting rid of him to free up some room on the wage bill for new players.
A very average footballer who looked a lot better when he was playing for Egypt than he ever did in a Boro shirt. In ten years time will probably be referred to as "that useless player we signed to help Mido settle"
.

Dead wood indeed, a very troubled individual. I’ll never forget the time he claimed joining Newcastle would be an honour. The game is littered with talentless, brainless people like him.
The only time he ever looked good is when he played alongside the Boat.
All in all I do not make comments on blogs, but I have to mention that this post really forced me to do so. Really admirable post
