Boro youngster at the center of an International tug of war

Highly rated Middlesbrough youngster Rhys Williams is at the center of a battle between Wales and Australia for his long term International future. Williams, who has helped Burnley reach the Championship play-offs during a successful loan spell at Turf Moor, has already played 10 times for Wales’ Under-21s, but the fact that he has yet to play a competitive game for the full National side still makes him available for Australia.
It has been rumoured that Wales coach John Toshack plans to include Williams in the full squad for the friendly with Estonia this month and the World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan in June, but Australia coach Pim Verbeek, made a special trip to Burnley's Turf Moor to meet Williams after their recent 1-0 defeat of Sheffield United.
Williams has shown a commitment to Wales in the past but has been disappointed to have not played a role in the full National team before now:
I was a bit upset that I didn’t play last time in one of the matches because I’ve been doing well at Burnley, but it’s not me who picks the team so you’ve just got to wait and see. Wales have been good to me, I just want to keep progressing and hopefully I will get in eventually and play games.
Williams is a young player I rate very highly, he looked very comfortable in pre-season and I believe, had he not suffered a bad injury early on in the season, we would have seen him play for the first team. As it is I think the loan spell at Burnley will have done him the world of good and he should be coming back to Boro an improved player.
