Boro Mania man of the match for the Chelsea shambles is…..
By Shaun • Oct 23rd, 2008 • Category: First TeamNobody! Thats right, for the first time this season the Boro Mania readers have decided not to award a Man of the Match. In truth there was no-one deserving of the award in what was one of the worst Boro displays I have ever sat through. Mido for all his work rate, endeavour and posturing was wasteful with the ball and guilty of trying to do too much himself but he came closest to picking up the award.
I personally voted for the No-one option as I just couldn't bring myself to vote for anyone based on that display. Lets hope things are better after the Blackburn and we can select a Man of the Match (preferrably a striker!)

I voted for no-one as it would be a joke to give anyone MOM based on that performance
Hello to all at Boro Mania. I was at the Riverside on Saturday, and as a Chelsea you can imagine I was chuffed with the performance, especially given the distance travelled to get there!
A couple things (if you care)…
1 - On your poll above, I understand the reason why you’ve voted like you have, but I’d like to give an unexpected shout out to Mido (who I see finished second and top of the actual players).
I thought he played very well on the day, especially in the first half. He held the ball up well and I was surprised by his neat passing and tidy tricks. The support for him was poor, but on another day and hopefully against a different side, he would’ve scored or at least helped provide one or two.
2 - The Riverside is a very nice stadium and everyone in and around the ground was very friendly on the day. Something to be proud of, because I’ve seen some real sh*tters on my travels.
Essay over and I look forward to coming up to the North-East again next year.
Good luck this season.
Hi Makelegend,
Many thanks for your comments, it’s always nice to get an opposing view and I guess a fresh set of eyes on things at the Boro. I think most people would agree that Mido was probably the best of a bad bunch on the day. My only criticism of him was that he tried to do too much and held on to the ball to often in promising situations but on the day it mattered little as Chelsea were a much better side.
Shambles is the word, no one deserves it! Nice to see a decent post from an opposing fan!
